While you're away, your best friend will play.
My name is Danielle Paradise. I am 26 years old. I have been an employee of Sit and Stay Pet Resort since the day we opened in February 2010. I am the assistant manager and dog trainer.
I have loved animals my whole life. It all started with my first dog named Cubbie. Cubbie wasn't your normal pet. He was part of our family and also part of the Brown County Sheriffs Department K9 Unit. He was my father’s partner for 10 years in the drug task force. We had to put him to sleep when he was 14 years old. This was very hard on me because he was my first dog and my best friend.
When I was 13, I started pet-sitting my dad’s friend’s dogs. This process helped me recover from the loss of my beloved Cubbie. It was during this time that I realized what I wanted to do as a career. I wanted to work as a handler at a dog-care facility. I began to realize my dream at the age of 16 when I went to work at a daycare/boarding facility. I now have ten years of experience, doing something I truly love. This work makes me very happy, especially when I see how happy it makes our customer dogs as well as my own.
I have six pets. Four cats named Hurricane and Tornado, Chloe and our youngest Harvey and I have one dogs. Pedro is a 15yr old Chihuahua/Maltese mix. Jarvis 16 weeks old Black Lab/Border Collie mix. Recently, I lost my little girl Jasmine Marie/Mugs/Muggy. My life without her will no longer be the same. She used to love scratching her back on the fence, whining for me while I was teaching a training class, or enjoying the pond all by herself. Jasmine was the type of dog who loved and could play with all types of dogs and people. She loved all the Sit and Stay employees, but she was deeply devoted to her me and her family. Whenever I was in the playroom, all Jasmine wanted to do was snuggle and be by me. The world lost Jasmine way too soon when she lost the battle to Addison's disease at 6 1/2 years old. She was my partner in crime, my training buddy, my bestfriend.
My job is fantastic because I can bring my dogs to work with me. How great is that? When I am finished for the day, I can go home knowing my dogs got the attention and exercise they need and deserve, allowing me to get things done at home.
I love to see the dog’s come into Sit and Stay Pet Resort each and everyday. They are so happy to be here. The way I see it is if the dog is happy the owners are happy!
My name is Jadyn Jacobe and I have been working at Sit and Stay since March 2014. I'm a 21 year old college graduate from Globe University as a Veterinary Technician. Working with animals has been a dream of mine since I was a little girl. I love working here because I get to spend my day with dogs. Working at Sit and Stay opened my eyes to all the different breeds of dogs there are. Working here also made me fall in love with breeds I never gave two thoughts about. It amazes me how different each dog is and how each dog has their own personality.
Growing up, we always had at least one dog, and they were typically Golden Retrievers or Labs. I just recently got my first puppy that is all mine. Her name is Rogue, after the X-men character not the car. She is a Husky German Shepherd mix and just turned two in January. My love for wolves made me want a Husky and working with them at Sit and Stay made me love the breed even more. Having her definitely makes me feel like a mom and it makes me happy seeing her play with all of her friends at work. She definitely keeps me on my toes and is way too smart for her own good!
Eventually, my dream is to work at a wolf reservation but I know that will take years to accomplish. My first step in achieving this goal is to get a job at a veterinary clinic to further my experience/education. As much as I love working here at the kennel, there will come a day that I will need to move on to a different job, and just the thought of that saddens me. All the dogs that come here have touched my heart one way or another and I know even after I leave I will be coming back to visit.
